Movie Time: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

The park is gone, but not forgotten.

KB Fan Fiction Productions is on a roll in its movie marathon after targeting three films for 2018: Pacific Rim: Uprising; Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Bumblebee. So let's talk about Jurassic World here. Fascinated by dinosaurs when they are young, the K Brothers are taken on a roller-coaster ride of suspense, action and CGI meshed into an installment of one of the greatest dinosaur film franchises of all time.

(WARNING: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS)

The film has two halves concerning two distinct motives. The first half of the film focuses on the plan to get Isla Nublar's dinosaurs off the island due to a volcanic eruption that is about to devastate the island. That half is largely based on the disaster movie genre. The mood changes when the film enters its second half, when the rescued dinosaurs are auctioned and a new hybrid being introduced as the new antagonist dinosaur in the franchise. The second half contains a hint of horror vibes.

The film boasts a large number of dinosaur species crammed into a film, and that is more species than the other entries of the Jurassic Park franchise so far could feature. Among the new dinosaur genera introduced on screen in the film are:

  • Baryonyx, a spinosaurid.
  • Allosaurus, the Jurassic period's most famous predator.
  • Carnotaurus, a horned abelisaur.
  • Sinoceratops, the only large ceratopsian known to have been discovered in China.
  • Stygimoloch, a Pachycephalosaurus relative.
The new hybrid dinosaur introduced in the film is called Indoraptor. It is like a miniature version of Indominus rex but had more Velociraptor genes. It is shown to be a cunning hunter that adopts solely the predatory traits of Indominus rex and intelligence equaling the hyper-intelligent Velociraptors of Jurassic World. The film's individual is merely a prototype.

So far, the film gained mixed receptions. Like the previous entry Jurassic World, the film is loaded with references, callbacks and Easter eggs from the previous installments. The film had ventured into several new and compatible genres that the theme of natural life conflict can fit in, creating a sense that could entertain viewers of all ages. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom truly is an unforgettable dinosaur film to be worth watching.
